Schneider's 82mm IR Cut filter poses a significant problem due to the lack of front lens threads, rendering it nearly unusable when stacking additional filters is necessary. To overcome this limitation, one can extract the glass from a slim UV filter and utilize its ring as a replacement for the lock ring found in the IR cut filter, effectively creating front lens threads for this filter. However, the success of this solution relies on two 3D printed components being precisely sized to fit between the threaded rings, holding the glass securely in place. The thin ring is positioned inside the filter to prevent the glass from shifting sideways, while the thick ring sandwiches the two rings together, applying downward pressure to keep the glass firmly in position. This marks the fourth attempt at achieving a satisfactory result. Batch 3 showed promise, but minor shrinking issues persisted, which this latest iteration aims to address. To minimize these problems, I employed PLA material with an infill of 90% and a layer thickness of 0.15mm.
