Schnabel-car for Märklin

Schnabel-car for Märklin

thingiverse

His model of a Schnabel car isn't based on an actual prototype - it's more like an impressionist representation that just shows off what these cars typically look like and has a size that works for most standard layouts. He uses bogies from Märklin's 4617/4618 models, along with the transformer model that came with the Märklin 4617. To complete this car, you'll need: Four bogies from Märklin 4617/4618 or other bogies with a 5mm hole. Remove couplers, buffers and handrail from two of these (the inner ones). One 1.4x6 bolt and nut or hard wire (1mm dia.) per arm to mount the transformer bridge. Four M3 screws and 5mm washers to attach bogies to their bridges. To assemble one car, you'll need to print two bogie bridges (either with or without a cab), two arms, one transformer bridge, one or two roof pieces for the cab, and four bogie bolts. The bogie bolts have M3 threads and should be glued onto the bogie bridges. The sample model shown is finished with filler, partly sanded, and sprayed in the red color of German Railways.
