Museum Het Pakhuis - A Strategic Outpost on the Ermelo Battlefield Dating: 170-180 AD The spearpoint found on the Ermelo Heath is part of a larger number of artifacts. Around 170-180 AD, an entire legion of 5000 Roman soldiers encamped there for several days before continuing their journey. The outlines of the camp are still visible today and pose a great enigma to experts. This site lies 35 kilometers north of the former border. The camp tells us something about the Roman presence on the Veluwe beyond their territorial boundaries, the excavated objects reveal their eating habits and way of life.
