Human: Museum Het Pakhuis - Jantje van Speuld Grafheuvel Dating back to 1500 B.C., this ancient discovery is a testament to the lives of our ancestors. A woman, believed to have lived on the Veluwe during the Bronze Age, lies buried beneath a grassy mound. We know she was a woman due to the width of her pelvis bone. Only a small fraction of people from rural communities were given proper burials, suggesting that Jantje held a higher social status. It's a fortunate coincidence that Jantje wasn't overlooked in the face of World War II's aftermath. Following the war, plans for military barracks on the Veluwe sparked an archaeological expedition led by the Gelderse Archeologische Stichting. This resulted in numerous excavations of ancient burial mounds like Jantje's.
