The Veluwe Museum Hagedoorn's Place - the Blackberry Pricker\nDating: 1880-1920\nIn late nineteenth-century Germany, the blackberry pricker was invented, making it easier for families on the Veluwe to pick wild berries. Every year, entire families would venture out into the Veluwe forests to collect wild berries. From these berries, jam was made - both for personal use and as a way to earn extra money. This latter practice occurred collectively: each village had an address where wild berries could be dropped off in exchange for payment. The purchasing address then supplied the village's wild berries to the factory. Because the blackberry pricker damaged the berry bushes too severely, it was later banned from use during harvests.\nMore information: https://erfgoedgelderland.nl/schatkamers-van-gelderland/\nThe Veluwe Museum Hagedoorn's Place: https://hagedoornsplaatse.nl/
