In filmmaking and video production, an action takes place in a single location at continuous time, forming what's known as a scene. Thanks to the power to edit recorded visual works, it can be significantly shorter than a stage play scene. Certain types of scenes appear frequently in films and have developed names such as love scene, sex scene, nude scene, dream scene, action scene, car chase scene, crash scene, emotional scene, fight scene, tragedy scene etc. Every film typically has an opening scene and a closing scene. A scene is part of a film and also an act, sequence (which can be longer or shorter than a scene), and setting (usually shorter than a scene). The terms are based on the same concept of observing a sequence with continuity in it. A camera or editor determines what they see when handling visual material resulting from observation - thus giving meaning to a part where association between time, place or characters exists. Scene could be interpreted as a separation of film parts either from screenplay or final edited product and is usually decided by the person who wants the narrative of action in order with cause, effect, etc. A scene might take form even though scenes can be broken up. They happen in same place at different times but have separate action in several scenes or different places but happen in same scene due to connections via objects such as a phone or other visual connection tools etc. Unlike stage play division which uses acts most times these categories aren't seen often and is less likely for movie production which mainly includes scenes for the purpose of maintaining an unified plot, stage drama on the other hand are separated by act - dividing movies into scenes isn't possible during preproduction script stages. Scenes such as action require good planning to be done smoothly while the story flows seamlessly with character movement actions between characters in scenes to maintain film structure and unity of overall performance.
