Make Your 3D Printer Play Music Using the sounds that a printer motor makes naturally, it's possible to turn any song into G-code that tells the printer where and how to move along its axes, creating a unique music piece. The following G-code is for the popular Skrillex track "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites". Instructions To use this code, follow these steps: Go to your slicer's configuration settings and click on printer settings. Under printer settings, select custom G-code. Insert the provided G-code here after G28: Type G28 after the last line in the code if you want your printer to re-home its axes once the song is finished. Save the custom G-code and name it "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites". Now when you load an object to print, select "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" as your printer setting in the Slic3r menu. Once you click start print, the printer will home all axes and begin playing the song while the extruder warms up. Before starting the song, the printer will go back to its initial position to confirm the print bed dimensions. When the song ends, it will re-home all axes and proceed with printing your object. Note The provided instructions are for Repetier and Slic3r users only. The functionality of this code on other platforms is uncertain. Be cautious when copying and pasting long G-code files, as sometimes the full text may not paste properly into your custom G-code. Consider splitting the file into sections and pasting them individually if needed. Warning This G-code was generated for a printrbot simple with a 4x4 inch print bed. Users with larger beds should be cautious about possible code limitations. A big thank you to HomeConstructor for creating the MIDI-to-G-code software that made this project possible.
