SCART switch case for Otaku Games 6-in 2-out board
thingiverse
I designed this enclosure from the ground up for the Otaku games 6-in-2-out manual SCART switch. I wanted to make a sturdy case that can easily be installed with absolutely no desoldering or modifications to the switch board. Also I felt it was important to have a panel for game console logos so things are clearly identified. I printed my logos on plain paper, laminated them and cut them out. Summary of features: - Interchangeable slots for 12.7mm square user created logos - Anti-slip button grip - Requires M3 nuts and capscrews (20mm length) - Simple and sturdy feel - A very small amount of print support material is needed for the top case surface. Minimal cleanup is needed. Detailed list of features (you can probably skip this part): - Many switches that I've used tend to slide backwards when pressing the selector buttons. I added a ridge above the logo panel that acts as an index finger grip to keep the case from sliding. I also glued rubber feet to the bottom after printing. - The RCA jacks and the in/out selector are accessible with the enclosure installed. - I attached a few pictures from my slicer to show print orientation. Basically everything prints from the ground up, except for the standoffs which are flipped for printing. - The top of the case is as low as possible allowing for the use of virtually any SCART head. - The case fastens together using five M3 x 20 mm length socket head cap screws and five M3 plain nuts (I strongly prefer metal-to-metal fasteners and avoided using a self-tapping screw into plastic). - Due to the print orientation of the top case I added five individual upper standoffs that are assembled into the case top. Please see pictures or ask questions if this needs to be more clear. A very small amount of filing might be needed in the case top for the standoffs. - The square slot above each button accepts a 12.7mm x 12.7mm (1/2 inch x 1/2 inch) console logo insert. The logos can be easily changed out. Lamination is recommended but not required. Post-printing additional notes: The only tool required for installation is a 2.5 mm hex wrench. The bottom of the case holds M3 nuts in a hex shaped recess. Plain (non-locking) nuts are preferred. If you use an M3 nylon lock nut, fully pre-install the nut on the screw BEFORE installing it in the case. The force needed to form threads in the nylon insert can strip the lower case hex recesses. For reference the logos I printed were using a 24 lb. white office paper and laminated using a 3 mil clear pouch (sorry I only know US terminology here). After printing and lamination the logos I used were 0.24 mm thick. I used a word processor to size the logos and I printed them using a common color printer. Print settings: Test printed on a Monoprice Maker Select V2 using Inland PLA 0.4mm nozzle 2mm outer wall thickness 20% infill No brim or raft Support material only where touching buildplate. 55 degree cutoff angle. Total weight with supports: 88 grams as tested
