The Scarecrow is a fictional character from L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." He is a stuffed man made entirely of straw who comes to life when the Tin Man and a group of travelers, including Dorothy Gale, arrive in Munchkinland. The Scarecrow is known for his desire to have a brain, which he believes will make him intelligent and capable of thinking critically. In order to prove that he has a brain, the Scarecrow asks Dorothy to test him by asking him questions. With his newfound sense of self-worth, the Scarecrow is able to overcome his fears and become a valued member of the group.
