SCAR (String-based Assisted Centering and Rifling) for NERF Artifact and Alpha Kits
thingiverse
SCAR barrels for the Nerf artifact and alpha kits. Original design by Monochrome Industries. A SCAR is a String-based Assisted Centering and Rifling technology. This term was coined by senior NERF enthusiasts from Singapore with their original Brass SCAR barrels back in 2007. Increase accuracy of your blaster with a SCAR muzzle for the Alpha kit and Artifact kits. We all know Nerf blasters are notoriously inaccurate, so some rifling adds gyroscopic spin to stabilize darts in flight. Included are three files for different kits. Higher spring loads require thicker Fishing Threads. The WTF Barrel is an experimental design. It uses rifling and Fishing Threads to induce more spin. In theory, you would need very thin strings to compensate for the rifling plus string combination. This is a rough gauge; I've never really tested it with higher loads. If anyone tests them out and gets good data, please let me know. Ideally, gauging via Muzzle Velocity vs accuracy would be better. 0.35mm strings are approximately 16kg or less. 0.55mm strings are approximately 25kg or less.
