Scapula (Anatomical bone)
thingiverse
The scapula bone, sourced from BodyParts3D (http://lifesciencedb.jp/bp3d/?lng=en), was expertly edited into printable pieces using Cbonsig's detailed instructions (http://craig.bonsignore.com/2012/10/07/open-3d-human-anatomy/) as a guide. The resultant STL files, Scapula_cut1.stl and Scapula_cut2.stl, were printed without support or raft on a Replicator 1 using white ABS. Despite the decent overhangs, the print quality was satisfactory. The pieces were glued together with acetone and then skeined with SF50 at a printing speed of 120mm/s, layer height of 0.2mm, and with an additional two shells using Sailfish firmware. Additionally, the original .obj file from BodyParts3D is included for those who may wish to experiment with alternative cutting methods. The completed scapula bone was printed as a gift for a friend studying anatomy, who particularly favored this bone.
