This marble sculpture was crafted by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (born in Balenciennes 1827, died in Coubevoie 1875). In Naples, the renowned artist held residency at the prestigious Academy of France in Rome; he described his masterpiece as "A young fisherman of 11 years listening to the echo through a shell and laughing", the work was warmly received by the Academy of Fine Arts and achieved widespread public acclaim. The Atelier Carpeaux has subsequently witnessed numerous reproductions and variations of this iconic sculpture. This object is part of "Scan The World".
