scale mail scale
thingiverse
This single-scale design is for creating chainmail scales, linked together using jump rings. While initially tedious, once you get the hang of maintaining correct topology, progress speeds up. Print the scales with a mosaic printer, PLA filament, and 0.25mm layer height to achieve a 1mm part size. Each scale should have two solid layers and two perimeters for complete solidity. Slice them into 5x4 plates using slic3r software. Assemble the scales diagonally with two rings each connecting to the scales above, as shown in the pictures. While waiting for stainless steel order from TheRingLord, practice by printing your own scales and enlarge hole size if needed for easier assembly with 3/16" rings; file: scale_bighole.
