Scale Car Model Body Hanger
thingiverse
I designed a hanger that allows me to spray paint model car bodies without laying them down. This setup enables me to suspend the car in mid-air via the roof, ensuring coverage on overhangs, and keeping it stable while I paint. The hanger is strong enough to hold a 1/24 scale die cast Fiat 500 body with no issues, but plastic bodies or smaller vehicles may require taping down the hanger to prevent spray paint pressure from blowing them over. Any tips or comments are greatly appreciated! Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerGear Printer: MakerGear M2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.35 Infill: 25% Notes: Honestly, any resolution will work, as this object doesn't require detailed printing. The goal is to achieve low detail without layer delamination. Post-Printing: Assembly should be relatively straightforward based on the finished product's design. I recommend lightly sanding all mating surfaces that will be glued together, as PLA and PVA glue tend to form a stronger bond with sanded surfaces. Glue the half-shafts together to create the strut pieces, five in total. Two struts will have one hole each for the top and bottom, while three struts will have holes on both sides for the center. Next, glue the bottom strut to the bottom piece. Then, glue a peg into the top of the strut and attach the next middle strut to it. Repeat this process with the remaining two middle struts, finishing with the top strut. Finally, glue the top piece in place. If anyone has trouble understanding these instructions, please comment, and I will gladly improve them.
