This part is a more advanced version of the idler holder used on aluminum GT2 16 teeth idlers. It can hold an extra pair of 625ZZ bearings, keeping them in place with either a M5x20 or M5 threaded rod that has been cut to about 20mm long with 2xM5 nuts attached. These bearings are really beneficial in maintaining the belt's parallel alignment as much as possible. In particular, the Scalar XL has its X carriage designed so that the belt runs trapezoidally rather than being parallel. This can significantly impact the precision of the machine. It is completely unnecessary to use this part for the X axis, but it greatly enhances this aspect by keeping the belt parallel to itself.
