Scalable Spool Holder
thingiverse
This thing is designed for those using an spool holder system with 608 Bearings - just the holder, not the attachment to the spool. You can build it however you want, as there are only two parts: each corner piece. The idea behind this design is to print once and then scale on demand by swapping in longer steel threaded rods. *Hardware Requirements:* You can use either M8 or 5/16", just stick with one of them - don't mix it up. Steel Threaded Rods: Get six equal-length pieces for the three equilateral triangles, and three more equal-length pieces for the center of the spool and two additional stability rods. *Hardware Needed:* Sixty-four nuts Twenty grower washers (for holding nuts) Twenty special thin washers The rule is simple: On each join, it's plastic | washer | grower washer | nut. The washer distributes force into the plastic to avoid damage, while the grower washer applies constant force against the nut and plastic to keep it from coming loose later on. Follow the pictures for guidance, but ask a question if you have any doubts.
