scad threading library

thingiverse

This is an extremely fast open-scad library designed to create threads quickly and easily. Just a few lines of code generate a spirally set of points and the corresponding faces, forming a single polyhedron. Standalone it renders rapidly, but when combined with other objects or functions, it slows down due to the large number of facets representing the thread and its intersections. Open-scad version 2016.xx or newer is required, so be sure to use the latest nightly builds. The library includes an example call, which is simply: s_thread(diameter, threadpitch, height). This follows the general setting of "$fn", which can be set globally or individually. To get started, give it a try and have fun! Note that the height of the thread cannot be set seamlessly, as it rounds the given value to a multiple of the thread pitch, also known as a whole number of turns.
