SC114 Z80 Motherboard case/stand/tray
thingiverse
This is a case/stand/tray for Steve Cousins' SC114 Z80 motherboard. It's not exactly a case per se, so maybe it's more of a stand? Or is it just a tray? Whatever it is, it keeps your system safe from shorts and other mischief. Things to note: The standoffs are designed and printed with M3x0.5 threads and 5mm deep. That said, your mileage may vary depending our your printer quality, layer height, calibration and filament. You might need to experiment a bit to find suitably sized screws if you want to mount the board more solidly. I have verified that M3-0.5 x 6mm work with some effort but M2.5 seem to be easier to thread for my print done with 0.2mm layer height. **I STRONGLY suggest whatever screws you use, you screw into the bare tray first to smooth out the threads and verify proper fit. Afterwards, remove the screws and then install the SC114.** It might also be a good idea to use nylon screws if possible both for electrical reasons and being more compliant to thread anomalies. Also, **do not over tighten the screws**. You risk stripping the standoff threads or maybe even damaging the board. Optionally, the board rests pretty well just on the standoffs and the ledge around the edges, so you can also just let it float without screws if desired. Note that I intentionally added a bit of relief space between the board and the walls so that it would not get wedged in too tight and would be easy to remove. If you need it to be more solid, use screws to tighten it down. Note that one side of the stand is shorter than the others. This is to accommodate the backplane expansion header. The board lies flush with this side and should easily accommodate the expansion header. Some rubber or silicone feet stuck on the bottom keeps things from sliding around. The walls were designed to end before the top edge of the vertical board headers, so I believe this design should accommodate any accessory boards you might add, even if they (or any cables) hang over the sides.
