SBase TFT32 screen housing with 2020 mount
thingiverse
I purchased the MKS SBase V1.3 board with the TFT32 screen and designed a housing for it as well as a mount to fit it snugly onto 2020 extrusions, which in my case were actually 2040. This setup leaves access to both the USB port on the screen and the DS card reader, neither of which I currently utilize. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but it serves its purpose effectively. The photos clearly show that some of the surfaces aren't fully closed, which is due to my decision to use minimal infill. To secure this housing to the 2020 extrusions, I employed two M4x16 bolts and two hammer nuts, finding the latter particularly convenient as they securely lock into place. To attach the screens themselves, I utilized a variety of leftover screws that didn't quite fit the intended design. According to specifications, one should use four M3x6 bolts with a small washer placed beneath each bolt head. For final assembly, I used two M4x10 bolts featuring countersunk heads; ideally, four such bolts would be employed for a more secure closure. However, I will make this adjustment once the storage compartment is reopened and additional M3x6 bolts are acquired. Considering it's currently dark outside, I might add some better-quality images later on. Nevertheless, I believe you should have a clear understanding of my project thus far. The small beeper located at the rear of the board was not provided with its own hole for sound to emanate from; this is likely due to its excessively loud volume anyway, as the housing helps mute it slightly, which suits me just fine. As an added gesture, I've included the FreeCAD files for your review and potential modification if you see fit. On a later note, I printed a new version of the housing using 20% infill instead of the original minimal setting. This change resulted in a more robust product with significantly stronger bolt-holding capabilities.
