Saxon Burh Fortified Gate

Saxon Burh Fortified Gate

thingiverse

This fortified gateway serves as Part Two of the uploaded modular Saxon Burh Walls, featuring an open gateway ideal for marauding vikings. The model represents a gateway for a Saxon fortified town/burh during the age of Alfred the Great of Wessex at the time of viking invasions. Scaled to suit 28mm wargaming or model figures, this package also includes a half-wall that was previously omitted due to forgetfulness. To assemble the gatepost and hinge, refer to the exploded diagram provided. Note that users may prefer to substitute the hinged gate rod with stronger materials such as wire, plastic dowel, or thin wooden dowel. A wire coat hanger can be used for this purpose. For attaching the gates to the rotating centre gatepost pieces, use thin gauge wire, a technique familiar to wargame modellers. On 12-May-2018, individual pieces were added to accommodate smaller build plates at user's request. Custom Painting: Models are undercoated in gesso, painted with acrylics, and varnished in matte finish.
