I printed mine from PETG which is a bit slippery for the mechanism to grip things. I solved this with a wrap of electrical tape around the roller. You could print the roller from a flexible material if you have it, and that would work great. Also the roller is 19mm(¾") in diameter so you could substitute in a length of wood dowel and that would probably grip well enough. The cover is held on by ether M3 screws or #4-40. Both will self tap nicely into the holes in the main body.
