Sauron's Shades

George Orwell's 1984 is now in your living room with Xbox Kinect, nicknamed the "Eye of Sauron." To use it for a romantic interlude or whenever you want privacy from the Eye of Sauron without turning off the device completely, simply print and attach a pair of Sauron's Shades. The audio function remains active, though. The Sauron's face text-embossed design is specifically made for Print 'O Matic 2 shells with 0.3mm layer height and 20% fill. It measures 100mm, perfect for fitting on a HBP. For optimal results, consider stretching the design slightly if you have a well-set up printer and know your maximum dimensions. To attach the Sauron's Shades to your Kinect, drill a hole 1.5" from the left side and 11/16" up from the bottom. Start with a 1/16th bit and gradually work your way up to a 1/4" bit to avoid the drill bit wandering into the channel. The design was created using Autodesk 123D, though the exact version is difficult to determine within the program. Utilize the help forum topics for assistance, as they are very responsive and helpful. Keep an eye out for updates on a MK7 print and the accompanying photograph. When printing the Sauron's Shades top-down, be cautious of cracking from the hot surface to the cooling edges. To remedy this, use a 1/16th hole at the crack tip to distribute forces and some glue for reinforcement. Experiment with temperature control gcodes to walk the temperature down during printing, but note that this may work best if done after the first layer. Currently, the design is being printed on end with a MK6, which came loose on the bottom. Combining it with a MK7 and a raft while dating ReplicatorG and firmware aims to resolve the issue. However, the process has revealed some large file bugs in RG/FW combinations that require further investigation.
