Saucer Spittoon
thingiverse
I recently got a request for a spittoon that didn't meet my expectations. Unhappy with designs commercially available and here on thingiverse, I decided to design one custom for my needs. Meant to sit on a desk and be grabbed roughly without thought, it had to withstand rough handling. I knew the people this was designed for wanted something resistant to spills, so I made the sides at 45 degree angles to the bottom to prevent them from tipping over. To ensure stability, probably some weight in the bottom is needed, such as glued-in washers or another method. It doesn't want to tip over due to the angle of the base, even when it's half full of water and turned on its side. 4 shells and 3 top and bottom layers each print fine, making a total of 7 layers that require no supports. A sort of torture test maybe due to the 45-degree angles, but it printed for me really well without any issues. I don't advocate the use of tobacco products, as they're unhealthy and will make you smell bad. However, if you want to pay me to design something for you, that's a different story. Print Settings Printer: My trusty Dildometer printer Rafts: No rafts needed for this print Supports: None required, I was able to get away without them Resolution: 0.2mm resolution worked perfectly fine Notes No supports were used in this print, and it's recommended to print in the orientation provided. The create form and revolve technique of modeling in Fusion 360 worked very well for this item, thanks to Autodesk for providing such a powerful tool.
