James Pradier - 1834 3D scan from the Louvre Model found at: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-satyre-and-bacchante-at-the-louvre-paris-6730 http://cartelfr.louvre.fr/cartelfr/visite?srv=car_not_frame&idNotice=2648 A satyr, being half-man and half-goat in Greek mythology, holds a bacchante languorously in his arms. His free hand undresses her. The bacchante is delighted, with her mouth half-open and eyes half-closed by ecstasy's approach. She seems to repel and attract simultaneously. Eroticism of this group caused scandal at the Salon of 1834. Mythological subject serves as pretext for realistic representation of non-idealized naked bodies.
