Satyr [2]
myminifactory
This sculpture of a marble head was displayed on a wall in a dining room (triclinium).\r\nThe Satyrs were rustic fertility spirits of the countryside and untamed wilderness.\r\nThey freely associated with the Nymphs and served as companions to the gods Dionysos, Hermes, Hephaistos, Pan, Rhea-Kybele, and Gaia.\r\nSatyrs were depicted as men with animalistic features, including asinine ears, pug noses, receding hairlines, horse tails, and erect members.\r\nAs companions of Dionysos, they are often shown drinking, dancing, playing flutes, and reveling with the Maenads.\r\n\r\nThis object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory.\r\nThrough Scan The World, we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world for public access at no cost.\r\nScan The World is an open-source community effort; if you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
