Saturn IB - American Rocket

This is an incredibly accurate representation of the Saturn I-B rocket utilized for launching low-Earth orbit Apollo missions (Apollo 5 (LM test), Apollo 7, Skylab 2,3, and 4, and ASTP). Some minor creative liberties were taken in several areas to enable spiral printing (excluding the base). Photos depict three printed models produced during SCAD development alongside a commercial injection-molded Saturn I-B rocket model for comparison purposes (which I began assembling at around 12 years old...). To perform a successful spiral print, choose a location on the model where it can be divided in two, then print both halves. In the photos provided, the model was split directly above the S-1B stage. The S-IVB and Apollo sections were printed right-side-up, while the S-1B section was printed upside-down. Unfortunately, Cura fails to seal the top of a spiral print, so the engines won't be printable using this method. If you wish to include them, you'll need to print them separately.
