Saturn Hanging Planter

I designed this hanging pot because I was inspired to create a really fun design that was easy to hangup and offered drainage, but was still really cute. The ring and the base are provided in separate files to allow for easier printing and also to ensure that cool colour combinations can be used. For my planter I used dark purple and yellow Polyelixir filaments. The ring is super easy and quick to print. I printed using a 0.2 mm layer height with 10% infill. No supports needed and can be printed flat on the print bed.  The body of the planter is a bit trickier to print but with some added supports it printed well. I printed it upside down so that the rim was on the build plate. I added a support enhancer from the build plate to reach the overhang at the apex of the sphere, where the drainage hole is located. The support material easily snapped off afterwards and the outside of the body printed really well. I didn't add support everywhere, only for the very top of the sphere and the surface area of the support material touching the build plate ended up being only about the size of a quarter (depending on how large you scale the model).  I designed the ring to fit onto the widest part of the body quite snugly but as a final step I used a hot glue gun to make sure that the pieces wouldn't come apart when I hung it up.   I hope you like this design as much as my plant does!
