cults3d
This stunning sculpture portrays the Goddess Cybele, representing Earth, as she's dramatically abducted by Saturn (or Chronos), who's accompanied by his symbolic lion. This powerful work of art was crafted by French master sculptor Thomas Regnaudin between 1675 and 1687. Initially, it stood proudly in the Orangerie within the picturesque gardens of The Palace of Versailles, before being relocated to the circular basin of the Tuileries Garden. After a meticulous restoration process that spanned from 2004 to 2006, this masterpiece is now on permanent display in the French sculpture room at The Louvre, where it continues to captivate and inspire visitors from around the world.
