Satsana 5015 Fan Duct for Ender 3 / Ender 5 / CR-10
thingiverse
This is an updated version of my popular fan duct for the stock Ender 3, designed specifically for a larger 5015 filament cooling fan. Here's a link to my original design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4369859. Like my original version, this one is also designed to be printed easily without supports. However, I've found that a brim is necessary on my printer to prevent the small cable cap and wall between the cables and hotend from warping away from the bed. Here's an overview of some of the updates I've made in this design: **5015 Fan Support** As mentioned above, this design is specifically for 5015 style blower fans. You'll need two M4x20 screws to attach the fan. I'm currently using the WINSINN fan from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DB7DLMM/), but any 5015 should work. If you have issues getting yours to fit, please let me know in the comments below. **Ender 5 Support** On the Ender 5, the ends of the X axis belt protrude from the front of the hotend carriage mounting plate, which conflicted with my old duct design. I've tried to avoid this issue with this new version. Unfortunately, I don't have an Ender 5 to test it on, so unless someone wants to send me one, I'd appreciate any feedback from those who have had a chance to try it out. **Top Access** The top of this duct design is much more open than my original, allowing easy access to the hotend and bowden tube coupling without removing the duct. This should make it easier to work with direct drive systems or allow for remixing to accommodate different setups. **Adjustable Height** I've changed the mounting holes to slots so that the overall height of the duct can be adjusted to accommodate different nozzle lengths. Currently, this allows for 5 mm of adjustment. I'd love to hear from others if this is sufficient, as I'm not sure how much variability there is in nozzle position. **Locking Cable Cap** The cap covering the wires to the hotend cooling fan now locks into place rather than simply resting on top of the wires. **Auto Bed Leveling (BLTOUCH, EZABL etc..)** I don't have ABL on my printer and don't plan on adding it. I believe that fixing hardware issues like a warped or unlevel bed in software is a bad idea. Instead, I'd take the printer to a shop for alignment. That said, I'm happy to support anyone interested in making remixes that include various ABL sensors or accessories. I've included a STEP file above for those who want to make modifications. Additionally, adjusting my printer's bed manually has become much easier now that I've moved the electronics case to the rear. This can be done with all stock hardware and my Y axis limit switch mount (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4403500). This makes it much easier to access all four bed adjustment knobs from the front of the printer. **Updates** * V69: Initial Upload * V80: Added vanes and a curved profile to the hotend cooling fan duct, added a slot on the right side for filament cooling fan wires
