The CubeSat Challenge submission features SATL, a boltless CubeSat frame constructed from just three unique components. The main member is an L-shaped rail made of DMLS aluminium and hard-anodized for cold welding to the p-pod; four are required per cube. Four separating beams, identical in design and manufacture to the L-beam, complete the structure. The X-web adds rigidity and locks other parts together via spring action, fashioned from a fiber-reinforced polymer matrix via FDM technology. Its orientation and flexibility are crucial for strength, and six are needed per cube. At 140 grams, weight reduction is possible based on required load capacity. SATL's innovative design necessitates no bolts or nuts and reduces print height for efficiency in additive manufacturing processes.
