Satay Set #4

Satay Set stands out as both instantly recognizable and refreshingly distinct, embodying Dr Iskandar's passion for crafting ceramic-ware that is genuinely authentic to Singapore's vibrant food culture. This stoneware set was specifically designed for the popular satay dish - marinated meat skewers grilled over charcoal to perfection. The set also serves as a tribute from Dr Iskandar to Glutton Square's outdoor satay stalls of the 1970s. The largest container is reserved for satay kuah kacang, a delicious peanut sauce dip, and features a sturdy wooden handle for effortless portability. The other containers are crafted for holding bamboo skewer sticks and condiments like ketupat (pressed rice cubes), cucumbers, and onions. Each receptacle undergoes meticulous 'fluting' - a process of creating intricate grooves on the clay surface using a specialized tool. The smaller containers are distinguished by decorative nubs or protrusions in the shapes of a square cube, a triangular pyramid, and a round orb.
