Satay Set #2
sketchfab
Satay Set makes a bold statement with its striking contrast between familiarity and uniqueness, showcasing Dr Iskandar's passion for creating authentic ceramic-ware that perfectly captures Singapore's food culture. This stoneware set was designed specifically for the popular satay dish, featuring marinated meat skewers grilled over charcoal to perfection. As a tribute to the iconic outdoor satay stalls of Glutton Square in the 1970s, Dr Iskandar's creation embodies the spirit of nostalgia and tradition. The largest container is designed to hold the savory peanut sauce dip known as satay kuah kacang, complete with a sturdy wooden handle that makes it easy to carry around. The other containers are crafted to store bamboo skewer sticks and a variety of condiments such as ketupat (pressed rice cubes), crunchy cucumbers, and pungent onions. Each container is meticulously "fluted," a labor-intensive process that involves creating intricate grooves on the clay surface using a specialized tool. The smaller containers are easily distinguishable due to their unique decorative elements - a square cube, a triangular pyramid, and a round orb - each proudly protruding from their surfaces.
