Satay Set shines with a blend of familiarity and distinctive charm, showcasing Dr Iskandar's passion for creating ceramic-ware that truly embodies Singapore's authentic 'food culture'. This stoneware set was crafted specifically for the popular satay dish - tender marinated meat skewers grilled to perfection over charcoal. The set also pays homage to the iconic outdoor satay stalls of Glutton Square from the 1970s. The largest container is dedicated to satay kuah kacang (peanut sauce dip) and features a sturdy wooden handle for effortless portability. The other containers were designed to hold bamboo skewer sticks and condiments like ketupat (pressed rice cubes), cucumbers, and onions. Each receptacle undergoes meticulous 'fluting', a process of creating intricate grooves on the clay surface using a specialized tool. The smaller containers are distinguished by decorative nubs or protrusions in the shapes of a square cube, a triangular pyramid, and a round orb.
