SATA Dock

SATA Dock

As a computer professional, I'm constantly working with external hard drives due to various reasons, but traditional USB docks often leave much to be desired and clutter up my workspace. To address this issue, I created a custom dock that occupies the space of two 5.25-inch bays, allowing me to easily insert three SATA hard drives of any size. I opted for cheap generic combination cables from eBay, which were then integrated into the housing with a slight amount of flexibility to accommodate proper alignment. To secure the cables, I used standard hard drive mounting screws. Due to printing limitations, I had to design the dock in two pieces to minimize support material usage. Depending on your printer's accuracy, you may need to file the tab and notch to ensure a smooth fit. Once assembled with a bit of crazy glue, this dock has been a game-changer for my work setup.
