Sarkophag Tarquinia
sketchfab
Tarquinia remains one of the most ancient and historically significant Etruscan cities in existence today. The city has earned widespread recognition for its impressive collection of Etruscan tombs, which have been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status due to their exceptional historical value.\nA remarkably sophisticated sarcophagus was discovered in a tomb within the Monterozzi necropolis in 1875. The deceased lies with his head raised and supported by his left hand, while his right arm, wrapped closely around its side, tightly grasps a patera. Next to his feet still rests his loyal dog. The lower portion of the sarcophagus is intricately decorated on all sides with relief friezes. Scenes depicting mythological content adorn the long sides, whereas warriors riding quadriges are shown on the short sides. The preference for flowing, fluttering skirts provides a clear indication that the sarcophagus dates back to the end of the 4th century B.C.\nThe model of this extraordinary Sarcophagus, currently on display at the Museo Archaeologico Nazionale de Tarquinia, was generated through photogrammetry using 102 high-quality images captured by a Lumix DMC-TZ61 camera.
