This is an authentic top plate designed specifically for a Sargent & Greenleaf 826C padlock. It will function seamlessly with the 826A model as well, although the shackle hole may be slightly oversized in that case. The top plate interacts flawlessly with both the control and operating positions of the actuator, mirroring the exact performance of an original part. While it's not recommended to solely rely on this replica for security reasons, it proves to be a valuable asset for restoring a lock that's missing its top plate or even for creating a mold to cast a steel replacement piece.
