Ancient Christian Sarcophagus of Marble with Scenes from the New Testament Fourth Century AD, Barcelona Acquired by the Academy of Good Letters in the Nineteenth Century Noted since the Eighteenth Century when it stood before a Hostel named Sabre in Barcelona The sarcophagus was relocated from Barcelona to Geneva during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) and after the war, in 1939, arrived by train in Madrid On June 19th of that year, it was handed over to Martin Almagro, the new director of the Archaeological Museum of Barcelona, along with another 68 boxes Since then it has been housed at the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia (MAC)
