Model for Online Visualization: M.A.N. - Colegiata de Santa María de la Dehesa Brava de Husillos (Palencia). A magnificent marble sarcophagus created in Rome during the second century is displayed online. Originally crafted as a tribute to an influential figure of that era, it was later repurposed around 960 AD as the final resting place for Count Fernando Ansúrez of Monzón. The intricate narrative depicts Orestes, situated at the center, avenging his father Agamenon's death by killing Egisto and Clitemnestra with assistance from Pílades. The bodies of the traitor and his lover lie at Orestes' feet as their nurse flees in terror. To the right, a servant hides behind a stool while Furies torment Orestes through remorse. On the left side, he is seen sleeping fitfully once more, whereas on the right, he hastens towards Apollo's sanctuary for purification from his crime. This work bears close ties to Romanesque sculpture as it clearly influenced one of the capitel motifs in nearby San Martín de Frómista, also available in 3D.
