Sarcophagus imported from Rome, crafted in Proconesian marble according to archeometric data. Found in Astorga's cathedral, it now resides at the National Archaeological Museum. Only the sarcophagus's front is sculpted, with a succession of Christian scenes unfolding from left to right: Lázaro's resurrection, with his sister María kneeling before the tomb; San Pedro's arrest, centered between two Roman legionnaires; the miracle of the rock, where San Pedro in prison causes water to flow, baptizing two soldiers kneeling at his feet; the Original Sin with Adán and Eva; the Multiplication of Bread and Fishes miracle; and Isaac's sacrifice, depicting God's hand above the relief and Isaac kneeling to its right. This piece is particularly noteworthy as it dates between 305-315 AD, predating the Edict of Milan, which established religious freedom in the Empire.
