This relief depicts Apollo, a highly revered Greek deity, who presides over artistry, illumination, and wisdom, among other domains. He is portrayed in the Lykeios statue style, holding a kithara and a griffin, alongside Athena/Minerva and the nine Muses. The scenes on the lid evoke an academic atmosphere, as inscribed by Ulpia Eutychia herself, who commissioned this sarcophagus in honor of her parents.
