Sarcophagus, 250-300 CE, from Pantano-Borghese (Italy), crafted in exquisite marble now housed at the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium. Created using ReMake and ReCap Pro from AutoDesk. At its core, the sarcophagus showcases a serene bust of the deceased, cradling a voluminous roll of papyrus within their grasp. Before them, an enigmatic sphere rests upon an altar, shrouded in mystery. Flanking this central scene are two genies, Hypnos and Thanatos, supporting majestic drapery with outstretched arms. A peacock and a lion devouring an ibex stand sentinel on either side, embodying the eternal paradox of human existence: the spiritual survival that transcends mortality and the material destruction wrought by death's cold grasp. This breathtaking sarcophagus has been repurposed as a fountain basin, its beauty now flowing like water. Follow me on Twitter @GeoffreyMarchal for more captivating updates!
