This is the imposing front of a sarcophagus honoring the memory of Publius Aelius Ponticus. Along the tabula's sides, two figures are prominently displayed. The woman is enveloped in a grand himation, while the young deceased man sports a short tunic and likely grasps a military donum firmly in his right hand. The inscription etched into the surface reads: "To the Manes / Publius Aelius Ponticus, a soldier of Cohort V Praetoria, / lived twenty-two years, two months, seventeen days. Aelia Domitia, / most unfortunate mother, and to herself."
