This exquisite bronze statuette of a falcon originates from the Bronze Age, roughly 664-332 B.C. Like many other falcons used in ancient Egypt at this time (explore the British Museum Falcon here), they were used to adorn a sarcophagus that would hold the embalmed body of a deceased animal or human. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from all around the world for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community effort; if you have interesting items nearby and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate.
