The myth of Selene and Endymion centers on a unique female obsession. Selene, the moon goddess, falls deeply in love with mortal Endymion. He is described as either a shepherd, a skilled hunter, or a powerful king. As Selene rides her chariot across the night sky, she often descends to earth just to be with the handsome Endymion. She desires to be with him forever and requests that Jupiter grant her lover eternal sleep, allowing her to visit him every evening. Some translations suggest that it was actually Endymion's decision to remain unchanged and perpetually asleep. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit project launched by MyMiniFactory.
