Santa Radar

thingiverse

This clever gadget relies on a tiny single 18650 power bank, an Arduino, and an RTC to light up the holiday spirit. Every hour, the RTC checks the time and looks for one special date - Christmas Eve. If it's not December 24th, a solitary LED blinks out the countdown. But if it is Christmas Eve, the LEDs gradually illuminate throughout the day and night, building anticipation for Santa's arrival. The enclosure features a removable back panel for easy access to the electronics if needed. The rest of the gadget is held together with a combination of hot glue and super glue - a testament to the maker's resourcefulness. The electronics are simply jammed into their compartment, sealed tight and ready to go. Check out the Arduino code that makes it all happen at https://github.com/nathanmichaelmoore/Santa-Radar.
