Vicenç Borràs, a resident of Vic since 1455, made significant contributions to the city's water system in the 15th century. The arrival of running water in Vic marked an important milestone for the town and led to the construction of canals and five public fountains. Among these, one stood out - the Mare de les Fonts, located at the center of the Mercadal Square. It was named as such because it distributed water to other fountains throughout the city. This edifice is topped by a sculpture of Saint Michael the Archangel fighting the dragon, created by the skilled artist Vicenç Borràs.
