Sandstone stele in British Museum + SECRET DOOR
sketchfab
STELE India, 18th century A sandstone stele known as a Sati (or Suttee) stone serves as a memorial to Indian widows scattered throughout India. Charles Stuart acquired this one at Bhilsa and later it was moved to the India Museum, where it eventually found its way to the British Museum. After processing the photos, I discovered an interesting amount of background from the Enlightenment Gallery. To add context, I decided to share this particular photo as a scene setter. The bookcase behind the stele features spines with no titles on them because it's one of several secret doors hidden within the British Museum!
