STEELE India, 18th century The sandstone stele, renowned as a Sati (or Suttee) stone, commemorates Indian widows scattered throughout India. Acquired by Charles Stuart in Bhilsa and later housed in the India Museum, it eventually found its way to the British Museum. The texture was also compromised by the robe barrier. I look forward to reworking that aspect.
