Sandpaper Holder

The FIRST thing I do when I head back from the hardware store is cut my sandpaper into thirds, dividing it neatly into one-third sheets. The SECOND thing I do next is misplace them! I use a one-third sheet, carefully place it in a safe location, and then promptly forget where that safe spot is. What I've accomplished here is design a set of holders to separate your sheets into distinct ranges. The number of holders you print is entirely up to you, but I've found five ascending in grit per inch gives a good starting point at 120grit and allows for progression all the way up to 3000grit. This is my FIRST creation and also my first project under Fusion 360. Originally, I had designed this holder with built-in pegs and supports for each print. However, I quickly realized that this approach was both wasteful and poor design. I then moved on to removable pegs and designed an asymmetrical peg that could be used on the bottom holder to provide different bench heights for the first holder. I had some spare 8mm x 1mm Super Magnets lying around, so I created depressions in the holes to allow either pegs or magnets to be used. Since then, I've gone entirely with magnets and eliminated pegs from the first holder. There are six magnets, and if you place them all in the same orientation, you can easily move holders up and down or access intermediate holders as shown in the last JPEG. This is a work in progress, as I intend to design a final lid for the holders that includes built-in areas for my 3D printed sandpaper blocks and keeps dust off the top sheets.
