Sandmation, Teeter Totter

Sandmation, Teeter Totter is an animated teeter totter crafted from sand.\n\nThis modern interpretation of a vintage toy originally featured in the book Carpentry And Mechanics For Boys by A. Neely Hall in 1918 showcases my creative liberties taken to miniaturize it using 3D printing technology. To fit within average build areas, I reduced friction caused by 3D printing, extended run times, and cleverly utilized riders' heads to tap the sand hopper, thus loosening sand flow. This project's original design demands patience and balance for optimal operation, yet it beautifully illustrates animated toys from nearly a century ago.\n\nA video of my prototype is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDA6zitL7MA.\n\nDesigned using Sketchup Make 2015 and printed in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 with Makerware 2.3.3.42 "Standard" Settings (.2mm layer height, 2 shells, 10% infill).
